The Cheonan Citizens' Bell is returning to its hometown after seven years since its removal.

The city of Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, announced that it will hold a completion ceremony for the Cheonan Citizens' Bell at the bell pavilion in front of Bongseo Hall at City Hall on the 10th.

The Cheonan Citizens' Bell was first constructed in 2005 at the current Dongnam District Office site and played a significant role during major events such as Independence Movement Day, Liberation Day, and Citizens' Day. However, in 2017, it was dismantled due to the development project of the Dongnam District Office and has since been kept at Seongjongsa Temple in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.

In 2020, Cheonan City conducted a survey on the reinstallation and location of the Cheonan Citizens' Bell among 1,644 citizens. As a result, 66.4% (1,092 respondents) were in favor of reinstalling the bell, prompting the city to proceed with relocating the bell pavilion.

The new location for the bell pavilion has been set in front of Bongseo Hall at City Hall. The pavilion was designed with white, symbolizing integrity and honesty, as its main color, and visually represents the city's commitment to always listening to its citizens and seeking healthy municipal administration. It features a pyramid motif, which provides a sense of stability with the golden ratio, and a semi-spherical roof structure.

Going forward, the Cheonan Citizens' Bell will be rung during major city events such as New Year's Eve celebrations, wishing for unity and well-being among Cheonan's citizens.

Mayor Park Sangdon stated, "The Cheonan Citizens' Bell will continue to play an important role as a symbol of unity and prosperity for the citizens of Cheonan," and added, "Cheonan City will continue to do its utmost for the development of the city and the happiness of its citizens through various events together with the citizens."
