Sancheong County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 4th that it held the inauguration ceremony of the 'Sancheong County Food Producers Association' (hereinafter referred to as the Producers Association) at the Agricultural Technology Center's main conference room.
The newly launched Producers Association organizes producers who will participate in planned agricultural production to stably supply local agricultural products to public food services, such as schools.
Previously, in preparation for the operation of the Sancheong County Food Integrated Support Center, scheduled for completion in September, Sancheong County recruited participating farms for two months starting in January and conducted four training sessions.
The Producers Association was launched with 18 farms that completed the training and expressed their intention to participate. Lee Hwangseok, CEO of Songha Natural Farm, was elected as the first president of the Producers Association.
They plan to establish a planned production and cropping system to supply agricultural products for public food services throughout the year, delivering safe and high-quality ingredients to the Food Integrated Support Center. In particular, they will play a key role in identifying major policies and initiatives related to food production.
Min Hyungyu, Director of the Sancheong County Agricultural Technology Center, said, "If the Producers Association provides safe and high-quality local agricultural products for public food services, it is expected to play a significant role in ensuring safe food for students and stable income for farms."
Meanwhile, the Sancheong County Food Integrated Support Center, scheduled for a pilot operation in March next year, will first supply all ingredients for school meals in the region through contracts with local schools, and later expand its operations to other public food service sectors.
