On this day, both parties agreed to join forces to jointly develop greenhouse gas reduction projects in various overseas locations. They plan to conduct a feasibility study on a forest degradation prevention project currently being jointly promoted in Uganda, Africa, and develop various new community-based projects.
President Kim Seong-hwan stated, "This MOU will serve as an opportunity for private funds to be invested in Good Neighbors Global Impact's relief projects," adding, "Going forward, both parties will cooperate more closely to actively respond to the global climate crisis."
Meanwhile, Korea Investment & Securities was selected as the first market maker for the Korean Emissions Trading Scheme (K-ETS) among domestic securities firms in 2021 and has since been developing various greenhouse gas reduction projects. In August, it became the first domestic financial company to acquire voluntary carbon credits through a carbon reduction drinking water project conducted in Bangladesh.
Additionally, the company is accelerating projects to secure additional emission credits, such as distributing cookstoves throughout Nepal and planting approximately 6 million trees including bamboo and fruit trees in India.
