Woojin Entech Obtains KEPIC Certification... "Proving Expertise in Nuclear Power Electrical and Instrumentation Control Fields"

Woojinentec, a specialized company in maintenance of instrumentation and control equipment for nuclear and thermal power plants, announced on the 4th that it has obtained the KEPIC (Korea Electric Power Industry Code) certification for nuclear electrical and instrumentation and control systems. The certification scope includes the production of electrical Class 1 systems such as control, alarm, and monitoring, as well as field (auxiliary) control panels.

KEPIC certification is a qualification assessment system conducted by the Korea Electrical Association, the supervising organization, to ensure the safety and reliability of power facilities, including nuclear power plants.

Based on this KEPIC certification, Woojinentec has secured high reliability in the production and supply capabilities of key electrical equipment for nuclear power plants. In addition to its current focus on maintenance of instrumentation and control equipment for nuclear power plants, the company can now expand sales through manufacturing and delivery of core components.

A company representative stated, “The acquisition of this KEPIC certification is an achievement recognizing the technical skills and operational capabilities accumulated through maintenance of core instrumentation and control equipment for nuclear power plants. We have extensive experience in domestic production of core nuclear instrumentation devices and will actively cooperate with our parent company Woojin, which already holds KEPIC certification, to develop and produce key equipment.”

Meanwhile, Woojinentec is participating as a joint research and development institution in the field demonstration project for nuclear power plant decommissioning led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute. The company is also focusing on research and development (R&D) of core technologies in preparation for the full-scale opening of the nuclear power plant decommissioning market.
