Busan City, together with the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth 2050 (Chairman Kim Sanghyup), will hold the "Busan Forum for Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth" at 2 p.m. on the 4th at BEXCO Convention Hall under the theme of "Measures to Revitalize the Circular Economy."
This forum is a major conference of the 2024 Climate Industry International Expo (September 4-6, BEXCO), a global platform for discussions on climate and energy, and is also part of the regional forums organized by the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth 2050.
The event is hosted by the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth 2050 and organized by Busan City.
The event will be attended by over 150 participants, including Mayor Park, Chairman Kim, experts and entrepreneurs in the field of circular economy, representatives of civic organizations, and citizens. The program will proceed in the following order: keynote speech, presentation session, and discussion session.
Participants will review domestic and international trends related to the circular economy and discuss Busan's strategies to become a leading city in resource circulation.
Alexander Meyer zum Felde, Global Leader of Circular Economy at Boston Consulting Group, will deliver a keynote speech on "The Circular Economy and the Future."
In the presentation session, Professor Kang Hongyun of Inha University, Kim Hoeun, Director of the Resource Circulation Policy Division at the Ministry of Environment, and Choi Yoonchan, Head of External Cooperation at the Busan Carbon Neutrality Support Center, will each present on "Sustainable Resource Management and Industrial Response Tasks," "Policy Directions for the Transition to a Circular Economy," and "Busan City's Response for Transitioning to a Circular Economy City."
In the discussion session, Shin Hyunseok, President of the Busan Research Institute, will serve as moderator. The panel will include Lee Minjong, Head of Circular Business Development at LG Chem, Kwon Kibaek, CEO of Terracle, and Yang Seunghoon, Professor of Sociology at Kyungnam University, who will engage in a heated debate on "Public-Private-Academic-Industrial Cooperation Measures to Revitalize the Local Circular Economy."
