The 16-inch LG Gram Pro, with the new processor installed, has AI processing performance that is three times stronger compared to the previous generation. LG Electronics explained that power efficiency has improved by up to 40%, and graphics performance has increased by 50%.
In particular, the performance of the neural processing unit (NPU), specialized for AI computations, has greatly improved. The NPU is a dedicated processor that efficiently handles the complex mathematical operations required for AI tasks. It offers excellent efficiency and performance while reducing power consumption. It is considered a core element of on-device AI, which performs AI computations within the device itself without network connectivity.
The NPU embedded in Intel's next-generation processor can perform up to 48 trillion operations per second, more than four times higher than the previous generation. Based on this, the 16-inch LG Gram Pro can smoothly run the latest generative AI as well as various AI service functions.
The 16-inch LG Gram Pro is evaluated as the top-tier lineup in the LG Gram series, possessing the best performance while maintaining the Gram's original ultra-light identity. It breaks the stereotype that high-performance laptops lack portability, based on a newly designed internal structure and enhanced thermal control system.
With the 'AI Gram Link' feature, users can easily exchange photos and share screens with up to 10 Android/iOS devices. Additionally, AI analyzes photos and automatically categorizes them into 39 categories such as people, places, and dates, providing excellent convenience.
LG Electronics plans to sequentially launch the LG Gram series equipped with next-generation AI processors, including the 16-inch LG Gram Pro, in major global markets within this year.
Global market research firm IDC forecasts that global PC shipments, including laptops, will increase by 2% year-on-year to reach 265.4 million units this year. Along with the analysis that the emergence of AI PCs will drive the expansion of the PC market, it is also expected that by 2027, AI PCs will account for about 60% of total PC shipments.
Lee Yoon-seok, head of LG Electronics' IT Business Division, said, "Since its launch, LG Gram has led the ultra-light laptop trend through continuous challenges and innovation," adding, "Based on Intel's next-generation processor, we will set the standard for a true premium AI PC."
