Ulsan's tap water has been named "Goraesu".
The Ulsan Metropolitan City Waterworks Headquarters announced on the 4th that this name was selected through the "Ulsan Metropolitan City Tap Water Brand and Slogan Contest".
This contest was held to develop a tap water brand aimed at raising citizens' awareness of Ulsan's clean and safe tap water and waterworks administration.
From July 22 to August 11, a total of 393 brand names and 316 slogans were submitted. After review, "Goraesu" was chosen as the brand name for Ulsan's tap water.
The first prize slogan was "Goraesu of Ulsan, where even whales dance", the second prize went to "Whale, this is the water!", and the third prize was "Safe water for our family's health, clear Goraesu!"
More details can be found on the website of the Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters. Ulsan plans to develop designs and characters using the winning entries by November and utilize them to promote Ulsan's tap water and related projects.
An official from the Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters said, "We will supply Ulsan's clean and safe tap water to citizens under the brand name 'Goraesu'."
Ulsan began supplying tap water in December 1934 with the completion of the Ujeong Water Purification Plant. Currently, it operates two advanced water purification plants: the Hoeya and Cheonsang Water Purification Plants. In addition, through the operation of the Water Quality Research Institute and the Water Management Center, Ulsan produces an average of 355 million liters of tap water per day, supplying 321 liters per person to Ulsan citizens.
