Gyeonggi-do Invests 40 Billion KRW for July Heavy Rain Damage Recovery

Gyeonggi Province will invest 40 billion KRW in the restoration of the Pyeongtaek Segyo Underpass, which was damaged by heavy rains in July.

On the 4th, Gyeonggi Province announced plans to allocate a total of 40 billion KRW, including 9.1 billion KRW from provincial funds, 8.3 billion KRW from national funds, and 22.6 billion KRW from city and county budgets, to 26 cities and counties excluding five areas: Seongnam, Anyang, Gunpo, Uiwang, and Gwacheon.

By city and county, Paju City will receive the largest amount at 14.4 billion KRW, followed by Anseong City with 7.3 billion KRW, Pyeongtaek City with 6.1 billion KRW, and Hwaseong City with 1.7 billion KRW.

Major restoration projects include 5 billion KRW for the Pyeongtaek Segyo Underpass restoration, 3.7 billion KRW for the Paju Sunaecheon (small stream) restoration, and 2.6 billion KRW for the Anseong Juksanje 1st Bridge restoration. A total of 34.6 billion KRW will be invested in public facilities such as rivers, roads, and forests, while 5.4 billion KRW will be allocated to private facilities.

Gyeonggi Province plans to promptly provide 900 million KRW in provincial funds as disaster relief payments for damages to private facilities before Chuseok, so that affected residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.

Earlier, on July 26, Gyeonggi Province supported 18 cities and counties with 6.5 billion KRW from the Disaster Management Fund and 500 million KRW from the Special Disaster Safety Grant to quickly address the heavy rain damage.

Lee Jong-don, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Safety Management Office, stated, "We have quickly established a restoration plan to help residents and areas affected by the recent heavy rain damage," adding, "We will do our best to swiftly carry out restoration projects so that the damaged areas can fully recover."
