August 30-31 Dongdaemun-gu Beer Festival 'BrewBrew Beer Factory' Held at Jungnangcheon
Popular Among Locals with Various Craft Beers, Food, Musical Concerts, and Performances
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilhyung Lee) announced that the "2024 Dongdaemun-gu Beer Festival, BrewBrew Beer Factory," held over two days from the 30th to the 31st of last month at Jungnangcheon No.1 Sports Park, was successfully concluded.
As the hot midday passed and the sunset dyed the sky red over Jungnangcheon, citizens gradually gathered at the event site with their families and friends. Adults presented their IDs at the information desk and received adult verification wristbands. They enjoyed the festival, holding a glass of domestic craft beers highlighting regional characteristics, as well as German and Belgian beers, while engaging in lively conversations.
About 30,000 citizens (estimated by the organizers) participated in this festival held at the end of summer. On the night of the 30th, many young office workers who had finished work and residents from nearby areas visited the site, while on the 31st, families enjoyed the festival together.
A representative from the Dongdaemun Cultural Foundation, which organized the festival, stated, “Based on the number of adult verification wristbands checked, it is estimated that at least 30,000 people visited the festival site. Considering minors attending with verified adults to enjoy the performances, the number of participants was likely even higher.”
Various performances continued on the event stage. On the first day, the 30th, the musical concert by “The March Company,” composed of active musical actors from Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and the film music performance by “Tune Around,” expressing pop jazz music, received enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
On the 31st, the skilled DJ “Schedule1” captivated the audience with city pop, and “Band K,” who communicated with the audience while crossing various genres, performed a medley of hit songs.
Mr. Lee, a resident of Jangan-dong, said, “I feel great enjoying cool beer and delicious snacks while listening to musical music. I hope many more festivals like this, which citizens can enjoy, will be held in the future.”
On one side of the event site, experiential events that children could enjoy, such as water gun shooting games and making soccer ball bingo, were held, gaining great popularity among family visitors. Eco-friendly ice cups were used at this festival to practice carbon neutrality.
Ilhyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, who visited the event site on the 30th, expressed confidence that this festival would become another representative event of Dongdaemun-gu. The mayor said, “Beer was made 4,000 years ago in Sumer. Just as the Sumerians, who first started agriculture and created writing, Dongdaemun-gu will move forward as a more creative city,” and enthusiastically proposed a toast.
Hosted by the Dongdaemun Cultural Foundation and sponsored by KB Kookmin Bank and others, this event offered citizens a summer night at Jungnangcheon filled with refreshing craft beer, food, and exciting performances, receiving great acclaim.
