21 Former Local Government Heads Participate in 'Gukbu Forum'

Assemblyman Seo Samsuk, "Bipartisan Cooperation Needed for the People" The National Wealth Forum, a group of 21 ruling and opposition party lawmakers who are former local government heads, held a heated discussion on the "2nd Phase of Public Institution Relocation to Local Areas" on the 3rd at the National Assembly Members' Office Building. The National Wealth Forum held the '22nd National Assembly Launch Ceremony and 1st Meeting' on the morning of the 3rd at the 3rd Seminar Room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building.


The National Wealth Forum, co-chaired by Seo Sam-seok (The Democratic Party, Yeongam-Muan-Shinan) and Eom Tae-young (People Power Party, Chungbuk Jecheon-Danyang), is a parliamentary research group formed by 21 lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties who are former local government heads.


Attending the launch ceremony and meeting were National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joo Ho-young, along with Democratic Party members Kim Sung-hwan, Shin Jeong-hoon, Kim Young-bae, Joo Cheol-hyun, Park Yong-gap, Yeom Tae-young, Jang Jong-tae, and Heo Seong-mu; People Power Party members Lee Jong-bae, Cho Eun-hee, Kim Seon-kyo, and Lee In-seon; and Progressive Party member Yoon Jong-oh.


The National Wealth Forum selected "How to Proceed with the 2nd Relocation of Public Institutions to Local Areas" as the topic for the 1st meeting, analyzing the achievements and limitations of the 1st relocation of public institutions and presenting policy directions for the 2nd relocation. The meeting included presentations and discussions by Moon Yoon-sang, KDI Research Fellow; Yoon Young-mo, Research Fellow at the National Balanced Development Center of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements; and Han Jeong-hee, Director General of the Innovation City Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.


Seo Sam-seok, representative of the National Wealth Forum, stated, "As a former local government head, based on my administrative capabilities and experience in local autonomy, we formed this forum to strengthen the nation and its people in the 22nd National Assembly following the 21st." He added, "Going forward, the National Wealth Forum will take a leading role in stabilizing people's livelihoods and promoting national development."
