President Yoon Talks Again with Vietnam Party Secretary General Rum... "Strengthening Cooperation in Trade and More" President Yoon Suk-yeol is having a phone conversation with Vietnam's newly appointed Communist Party Secretary General and State President Vo Van Thuong at the Yongsan Presidential Office Building in Seoul on the 3rd.

President Yoon Suk-yeol had a phone call on the afternoon of the 3rd with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the country, exchanging views on ways to develop bilateral relations, the presidential office announced.


To Lam was elected as President on May 22. After the late Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Party, passed away, To Lam was elected as General Secretary and currently holds the position of President concurrently.


During the call, President Yoon congratulated General Secretary To Lam on his inauguration and expressed hope to further strengthen strategic cooperation in comprehensive areas such as trade, investment, advanced industries, infrastructure, defense, and defense industry, based on the cooperative achievements that the two countries have rapidly developed over the past 30 years since establishing diplomatic relations.


President Yoon also expressed his expectation to continue close cooperation with Vietnam, our key partner in implementing the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative.


General Secretary To Lam expressed his gratitude for President Yoon’s congratulations and deeply thanked the dispatch of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to the state funeral of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in July, conveying a special sentiment toward Vietnam.


General Secretary To Lam expressed hope to elevate cooperation with Korea, a special partner of Vietnam, and stated that Vietnam consistently supports Korea’s efforts to promote peace on the Korean Peninsula.
