Samsung Electronics has set this year’s exhibition theme as ‘AI for All’ and will showcase a wide range of the latest AI products in a 6,017㎡ (approximately 1,820 pyeong) space, the largest in the industry, based on ‘SmartThings.’ The exhibition is divided into themes such as security, privacy protection, sustainability, easy connection and control, safety and health, and B2B solutions, presenting key solutions and the latest technologies of AI-enhanced SmartThings. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, a giant screen will display a video showing the development of SmartThings over the past 10 years and the daily life changes brought by AI.
In particular, an exhibition space where visitors can intuitively experience the various experiences that Samsung AI TV, centered on AI home, can offer consumers will be prepared to attract attention. The AI TV exhibition space introduces various features including ▲ ‘3D Map View,’ which allows users to check and control the status of devices connected throughout the home on a large screen ▲ upgraded AI voice technology ‘Bixby,’ which performs multiple commands at once ▲ ‘AI Upscaling,’ which vividly converts past videos ▲ ‘Active Voice Pro,’ which delivers dialogue through AI ▲ and ‘Generative Wallpaper,’ which recommends images based on user-selected conditions.
Samsung will also unveil an upgraded version of the voice assistant ‘Bixby’ applied to ‘Bespoke AI’ products, capable of understanding context and responding based on natural language. The ‘Voice ID’ and ‘Ambient Sensing’ features, which recognize the user’s voice and location to provide personalized customized services, will be unveiled for the first time at IFA 2024. These features are scheduled to be applied next year.
Targeting European consumers sensitive to energy efficiency, Samsung has created an ‘Energy Leadership Zone’ to introduce products and services that reduce energy consumption. Representative services include ▲ ‘Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator,’ which combines an AI inverter compressor and Peltier elements ▲ ‘Bespoke AI Washing Machine,’ which saves 55% more energy than the highest grade (A grade) under European energy standards ▲ and ‘AI Saving Mode,’ which further reduces electricity usage in connection with SmartThings Energy. Additionally, the ‘Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Ring, Watch7, Watch Ultra, and Buds3 series’ will also be showcased.
LG Electronics will participate in IFA 2024, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, held in Berlin, Germany, for five days starting from the 6th (local time). LG Electronics has set this year’s exhibition theme as ‘Experience, Affectionate Intelligence Home,’ aiming to present the ‘LG AI Home’ solution that empathizes with customers and upgrades their daily lives through AI home hubs and AI appliances equipped with generative AI.
At this exhibition, LG will unveil ‘LG ThinQ ON’ for the first time. LG ThinQ ON is the first in the home appliance industry to equip a hub with generative AI, serving as the core device of LG AI Home that connects home appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices with customers. In LG AI Home, customers communicate with ThinQ ON via voice as if talking with family or friends. The generative AI understands the context of conversations and the surrounding environment to control appliances and IoT devices, providing optimal care for customers.
LG will also showcase ‘AI Core Tech,’ the foundational technology of the AI Home solution. AI Core Tech integrates AI technology with LG Electronics’ hardware expertise such as motors and compressors.
LG AI Home’s vision for a sustainable future by enhancing energy efficiency will also be revealed. LG Electronics’ high-efficiency heat pump heating and cooling system analyzes energy usage with AI and optimizes heating and cooling modes to save energy. LG’s Therma V is an ‘Air Source Heat Pump (AWHP)’ product that supplies indoor heating, cooling, and hot water by utilizing thermal energy from outside air. Compared to conventional boilers that burn fossil fuels for heating, it reduces carbon emissions and offers excellent energy efficiency.
IFA 2024 marks its 100th anniversary with participation from 2,000 companies from 139 countries. The number of visitors during the event is expected to reach 182,000. From Korea, 127 companies and organizations including Samsung, LG Electronics, KT, Bodyfriend, Cuckoo Electronics, At Home, and the Korea International Trade Association will participate.
