On the 3rd, SCL Science announced that at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Baek Se-yeon was newly appointed as an inside director, and Choi Jeong-gyun as an outside director. Additionally, by resolution of the board of directors, Baek Se-yeon was newly appointed as the sole CEO.
CEO Baek is a medical doctor who graduated from Ewha Womans University College of Medicine and is a specialist in laboratory medicine. He concurrently serves as the head of the New Drug Development Support Division at SCL Healthcare, head of the Global Marketing Division at SCL, and director of the Future Medicine Business Office at Hanaro Medical Foundation.
Director Choi, a professor in the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST, is an expert in medical big data who participated this year in constructing the world's largest cancer tissue single-cell and spatial transcriptome database. Last year, he developed a neoantigen prediction artificial intelligence (AI) platform together with a domestic research team.
The company plans to accelerate its digital and bio platform businesses based on the expertise of the newly appointed management. In particular, it aims to grow digital healthcare, AI medical diagnostics, and bio platform businesses as core areas by utilizing the medical data and networks owned by the SCL Group.
A company official stated, "To strengthen our business capabilities, we newly recruited directors Baek Se-yeon and Choi Jeong-gyun, who have long built expertise in laboratory medicine and bio and brain engineering fields," adding, "Along with recruiting experts, we will actively expand new businesses such as digital healthcare, AI medical solutions, bio platforms, and AI medical diagnostics using vast medical data."
