KOSCOM announced on the 3rd that it held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders at its headquarters in Seoul and appointed former National Assembly member Yoon Chang-hyun, recommended by the CEO Recommendation Committee, as the 20th CEO of KOSCOM. The newly appointed CEO's term is three years.
Newly appointed CEO Yoon Chang-hyun was born in 1960. He majored in Physics and Economics at Seoul National University, earned a master's degree in Economics from the same university's graduate school, and obtained a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Chicago Graduate School.
Yoon began his career in 1993 as a research fellow at the Korea Institute of Finance. From 1995, he served as a professor in the Department of Trade at Myongji University, followed by a professorship in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Seoul. In 2012, he served as the president of the Korea Institute of Finance.
He later served as chairman of the Public Fund Management Committee and was a proportional representation member of the 21st National Assembly. During this period, he was active on the Political Affairs Committee and led major issues in finance and securities, including proposing legislation to allow the issuance of Security Token Offerings (STO). He also served as chairman of the party's Digital Asset Special Committee and as a member of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Livelihood Economy Stabilization.
Based on this experience and knowledge, it is expected that KOSCOM will grow one step further from a leading capital market IT company to a digital financial innovation company in the rapidly changing global financial environment.
