Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province and Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province signed a sisterhood agreement for mutual cooperation on the 2nd at the Jang Gyehyang Cultural Experience and Education Center in Yeongyang County.
Yeongyang County, which signed a sister city agreement with Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province on September 2.
The signing ceremony was attended by Oh Dochang, Governor of Yeongyang County, Lee Hyunjae, Mayor of Hanam City, as well as the chairpersons and members of the Yeongyang County Council and Hanam City Council, the CEO of Yeongyang Chili Distribution Corporation, heads of civic organizations, the chairperson of the Internationalization Promotion Council, and about 40 other officials from both local governments.
The sisterhood agreement between Yeongyang County and Hanam City was concluded after both parties expressed their intention for partnership, with working-level officials from both institutions continuously discussing details since June of this year.
Through this agreement, both institutions pledged to strive for mutual development and prosperity in various fields including culture, tourism, arts, sports, economy, education, and administration.
In particular, Yeongyang County is working to vitalize the K-Food industry based on Eumsik Dimibang, the oldest Korean cookbook written in Hangul, while Hanam City is promoting the K-Star World project, a Korean Wave complex, on Misa Island. This agreement is expected to create synergy for the growth of the K-Culture industry.
Governor Oh Dochang stated, "Through this sisterhood agreement, I hope that active exchanges and the establishment of a cooperative system between Yeongyang County and Hanam City will bring together Yeongyang's nature and traditional culture with Hanam's infrastructure resources to create new value and opportunities for further development."
