Ikwon Jae, Osan Mayor, Receives 'Mugunghwa Gold Medal' from Korea Scout Association

Recognition for Supporting Various Youth Development Programs
"We Will Do Our Best to Support Youth Growth"

Lee Gwon-jae, mayor of Osan City, Gyeonggi Province, received the highest honor, the 'Mugunghwa Gold Medal,' from the Korea Scout Association.

According to Osan City on the 3rd, Mayor Lee was awarded the Mugunghwa Gold Medal at the 'Scout Summer Forest Camp with Nature' held on the 31st of last month at the Korea Scout Association's Gonjiam Campground.

The mayor was recognized for his efforts in preparing and supporting various programs such as cultural experiences, disaster safety education, and youth exchanges for Mexican scouts who withdrew due to an approaching typhoon at the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree, as well as for his unwavering support for the healthy development of Osan City’s youth.

In particular, the city explained that Mayor Lee carried out various support activities including ▲hosting the 'UNIBUS Entrance Exam Camp' for academic support ▲awarding the 'Hall of Fame Scholarship' for academic and special talent students ▲installing 'LED floor traffic lights' for safe commuting ▲adding yellow pedestrian crossings for children ▲and expanding village bus operations for commuting convenience.

The mayor said, "I will continue to do my best to support our youth so that they can grow into members of society with proper character and values through various activities."
