Miryang City Awards First Half Sharing Culture and Volunteer King

Miryang City in Gyeongnam held an award ceremony for the '2024 First Half Volunteer King' in the main auditorium of City Hall on the 2nd, prior to the regular September meeting.


The awardees were: ▲ Kim Deoksuk from the Gagok-dong Red Cross Volunteer Group in the senior citizens category, ▲ Jung Sohyun from Miryang Jeil High School in the children and youth category, and ▲ Shin Youngho in the general category. The winners were selected based on their volunteer hours and contributions to the local community.

Kim from the Gagok-dong Red Cross Volunteer Group, the recipient in the senior citizens category, contributed to promoting a culture of sharing through active volunteer work such as providing free meals at the welfare center for the disabled, making mats for stray dogs, and supporting various local events.

Jung, a third-year student at Miryang Jeil High School and the recipient in the children and youth category, set an example by participating in youth-led volunteer activities such as the Miryang Youth Training Center’s Youth Steering Committee, the Happy Max Christmas event for youth, operating festival booths, and offering beauty services.

Shin, the recipient in the general category, was recognized for his proactive attitude, volunteering at the welfare center for the disabled and the Cham Joeun Free Meal Center, as well as at the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory and the National Miryang Meteorological Science Museum, and supporting various local events.


Mayor Ahn Byunggu said, “I would like to thank Kim Deoksuk, Jung Sohyun, and Shin Youngho for practicing positive influence in various fields and activities in the community,” adding, “Miryang City will continue to spare no effort to promote volunteerism and will do its best to create a warm, inclusive Miryang.”
