About ten days after Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok ordered a swift and thorough investigation into the allegations regarding First Lady Kim Geon-hee's expensive handbags, a high-ranking personnel reshuffle in the prosecution was carried out. There is speculation that a mid-level personnel reshuffle in the prosecution may take place as early as this week. A man in his 20s who killed dozens of abandoned cats he received as donations to relieve stress from failed real estate investments has been brought to trial.
On the 3rd, Yonhap News reported that "the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office has indicted Mr. A without detention on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act." According to the report, Mr. A is accused of receiving 21 kittens for free from an internet cafe related to abandoned cats between May and August last year and killing them all. It is known that Mr. A cruelly killed them by biting their heads or setting their legs on fire, then abandoned the bodies by throwing them by the highway.
Mr. A's crime came to light after donors contacted him to inquire about the cats' condition, but he either responded poorly or did not answer at all, leading them to report to the police. It was revealed that Mr. A committed these acts to relieve stress after suffering losses from reckless real estate gap investments.
