Creative Opera Gala Concert and Classic Opera 'Seonbi' Performance
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will hold the 'Korean Creative Opera Festival' at the Ujang Hall of the Gangseo-gu Community Center on June 6-7. This event was selected as part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's private festival support and promotion project, and it was planned to promote the excellence and popularization of Korean creative opera.
On June 6 at 7:30 PM, the 'Gala Concert of Korea's Representative Creative Operas' will take place. This gala concert will feature four popular works: ▲ ‘Geumgangsan and Unlim,’ beautifully depicting the relationship between nature and humans ▲ ‘Chunhyangjeon,’ Korea's first creative opera and a representative love story ▲ ‘Arirang,’ dealing with Korea's painful past during the Japanese colonial era ▲ ‘Joo Gi-cheol's Resolute Love,’ portraying the life story of Pastor Joo Gi-cheol who protected the nation and people.
On June 7 at 5 PM, a full performance of the masterpiece opera ‘Seonbi’ will be held. ‘Seonbi’ is a work that was performed at Carnegie Hall in 2015 and sold out all seats. It tells the story of An Hyang, who introduced Confucianism and Neo-Confucianism?the roots of the Seonbi spirit?to Korea, and Joo Se-bung, who aimed to establish the Sosu Seowon Confucian academy.
This performance will be conducted by Kim Bong-mi, Korea's top female opera conductor, with collaboration from the Beha Philharmonic. The event is hosted by the Korean Creative Opera Festival Organizing Committee and organized by the Korean Creative Opera Cooperative, the Korea Creative Opera Producers Association, and Classic Times, with support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Gangseo-gu.
The performances will each last 120 minutes and are suitable for audiences aged 8 and older. Tickets are priced at 20,000 KRW and can be reserved through Ticketlink.
