[Good Morning Stock Market] Ahead of US Employment Data Release... KOSPI Expected to Show Mixed Trends

The New York stock market was closed on the 2nd (local time) in observance of Labor Day. The New York stock futures index showed mixed trends as it focused on the August employment report to be released this week. On that day, at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in the U.S., the Nasdaq 100 futures index rose 0.12% compared to the previous trading day, the S&P 500 futures increased by 0.07%, and the Dow futures slightly fell by 0.05%.

Korea Investment & Securities analyzed, "While the New York stock market was closed, major European stock markets closed mixed amid the impact of policy conflicts within the European Central Bank (ECB). The market is in a wait-and-see mood ahead of the ECB monetary policy meeting scheduled for the 12th."

The domestic stock market closed higher the previous day, supported by strength in cyclical sectors and a shift to net buying by foreigners, despite ongoing caution ahead of the U.S. employment data release. Individuals and foreigners led the rise with net purchases of 158 billion KRW and 239.1 billion KRW, respectively.

On this day, the domestic stock market is expected to remain cautious ahead of the U.S. August employment data release. The interest rate cut this month has become a foregone conclusion, and the August employment data to be announced this week will be a key indicator determining the extent of the rate cut.

Ji-Hyun Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "A wait-and-see stance is expected while awaiting the employment data, but it is necessary to confirm whether the improvement in foreign demand continues. The ISM manufacturing report in the U.S. is also scheduled for release tonight."

IM Securities stated, "The domestic stock market is expected to start mixed amid caution ahead of the U.S. market closure the previous day and the upcoming release of major U.S. economic indicators. The ISM manufacturing index is scheduled for release tonight, along with various U.S. employment data to be disclosed this week."
