Guro-gu Shares Warm Kindness with Neighbors through 'Chuseok Volunteer Activities'

Two-Week Chuseok Volunteer Activities with Local Volunteer Groups Until September 13
Sharing Holiday Food and Supplies, Visiting Elderly Living Alone, Providing Hair and Beauty Services for the Holiday

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that it will promote volunteer activities for vulnerable groups such as low-income and elderly people living alone in the region, together with local volunteer organizations, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.

The district conducts various volunteer activities every year to deliver warmth to vulnerable households that are easily isolated, alleviating loneliness and alienation, and sharing a warm Chuseok together.

By the 13th, the Volunteer Cooperation Group, Volunteer Camp, and Danjeongi Volunteer Group will participate in volunteer activities tailored to the characteristics of each neighborhood for vulnerable groups such as low-income elderly living alone and people with disabilities.

About 200 members of the Volunteer Cooperation Group will share holiday food and deliver goods for vulnerable groups including low-income elderly living alone, people with disabilities, and youth. They also plan to serve meals to elderly people living alone.

The Volunteer Camp will provide companionship volunteer activities and deliver daily necessities to about 300 low-income elderly living alone. According to the schedule for each day before the holiday, they will conduct phone counseling and home visits to check the health status and difficulties of the elderly, preparing for any accidents that may occur during the holiday period.

The Danjeongi Volunteer Group will carry out hairdressing and beauty services for low-income elderly living alone and mobility-impaired people with disabilities. Volunteers will visit selected households directly to help the recipients have a neat and tidy holiday.

A Guro-gu official said, “This Chuseok, we will continue warm companionship so that neighbors who may be isolated do not feel loneliness and isolation,” and added, “We will continue to do our best so that all residents can have a comfortable and joyful holiday.”
