This visit has been arranged to directly check the price trends of major holiday items for Chuseok, listen to the difficulties faced by merchants struggling due to a slump in consumer sentiment, and personally take care of the local economy.

On this day, Mayor Park will tour the market to check the current prices on site and focus on inspecting whether the city’s field-oriented price stabilization measures are being properly implemented.

As demand for agricultural, livestock, and marine products is expected to rise ahead of the holiday, and concerns about sharp price increases for some items have grown, the city has designated the period from August 23 to September 13 as the price stabilization countermeasure period for the holiday and has been promoting effective, field-oriented price stabilization measures.

In addition, as part of the Chuseok holiday price stabilization measures, a joint inspection team consisting of district and county officials and related agencies such as the National Tax Service has been formed to continue guidance and inspections to stabilize the cost of living for ordinary citizens.

In particular, the city is focusing on supplying key holiday items such as fruits and meats intensively before the holiday to stabilize prices, and is maintaining a response system through the comprehensive price control situation rooms established at the city and district/county levels. Mayor Park plans to meet with each market merchant, including the head of the Suyeong Paldo Market Merchants Association, to listen to their concerns and seek solutions together. He will also exchange holiday greetings with citizens shopping at the market.

Since 2023, Suyeong Paldo Market has been developing specialized market products through the Specialized Market (Culture and Tourism Type) Development Project to strengthen the market’s self-sufficiency.

The market has developed recipes and manufacturing methods for “Paldo Dakbal” (Paldo Chicken Feet) sauce, focusing on making it a signature food item of the market, and is promoting and increasing sales through local events, national excellent market expos, and tasting events. A sales cooperative has been established to ensure the continuity of the specialized business even after the development project concludes this year.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon said, “In order to help alleviate the difficulties experienced by market merchants and citizens due to the economic downturn caused by the so-called ‘three highs’ phenomenon, we are doing our utmost to stabilize Chuseok prices, including expanding the supply of key holiday items,” adding, “The city will continue to listen to voices from the field and strive to realize a ‘happy city that empowers me,’ where every citizen can be happy.”
