Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will operate the largest-ever "Chuseok Direct Transaction Market" at Yangcheon Park on the 5th and 6th, with participation from 44 local governments and 70 companies nationwide.
This year, nine new local governments have joined, expanding the market compared to last year, including ▲Miryang-si, Gyeongnam (soybean paste, glutinous red pepper paste) ▲Muju-gun, Jeonbuk (red pepper, deodeok, bellflower root) ▲Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon (red pepper powder, peanut pods, black soybeans) ▲Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk (garlic, apple vinegar) ▲Haenam-gun, Jeonnam (anchovies, flower shrimp), among others.
Visitors can purchase over 300 excellent agricultural and specialty products from all over the country on-site, including from sister cities such as Ganghwa-gun (turnip kimchi), Buyeo-gun (apples, pears, chestnuts), Wando-gun (seaweed, laver), and Hwasun-gun (potatoes, sesame oil).
To enhance convenience for visitors to the direct transaction market, the district has set up self-packaging booths and provides customers with a one-hour free parking ticket for the on-street public parking lot in front of the market. Additionally, a free same-day delivery service is available within Yangcheon-gu to allow customers to receive their purchased products comfortably.
Since last year, the district has been donating up to 5% of the sales revenue from the direct transaction market through the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation to support neighborly love. Over 10 million won in donations have been delivered to children and youth living in group homes within the district. Voluntary donations will also be conducted at this market to share warmth with neighbors who may feel lonelier during the holidays.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, "This market is a meaningful event that not only promotes urban-rural exchange but also uses part of the sales revenue to help neighbors. We hope many people visit to enjoy specialty products from across the country and have a bountiful holiday."
