Pet Groomer Who Fractured Dog's Leg
"Many Loans and Troubling Husband" Absurd Explanation
A pet groomer threw someone else's dog onto the floor, ultimately causing the dog to suffer a broken leg.
According to YTN on the 1st, a pet groomer at an animal hospital in Gyeonggi-do was booked after throwing a puppy onto the floor and fracturing its leg.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident shows that when the puppy tried to avoid the groomer's touch, the groomer grabbed the puppy's neck tightly and pulled. The puppy, which had been calm during grooming, even wagged its tail as if showing affection. However, after finishing the grooming, the groomer suddenly grabbed one of the puppy's hind legs and threw it onto the floor.
The groomer then appeared startled and picked up the puppy again, but the puppy was unable to properly extend its left front leg. The impact from hitting the floor had caused the leg to break.
The puppy's owner, Mr. A, said, "As soon as I took the child out, I was very shocked because the puppy couldn't straighten its leg," adding, "I overheard the groomer complaining to himself that the poodle's leg was weak, even though I was right there." The puppy is currently recovering after surgery and hospitalization, but it is reported that it will have to live with a metal rod implanted in its leg.
Immediately after the incident, the groomer claimed to have gently placed the puppy down. However, after the owner checked the CCTV and protested, the groomer belatedly admitted fault. He also gave a ridiculous explanation, saying he was under a lot of stress due to personal issues. According to Mr. A, the groomer said things like, "I have too many loans, my husband is causing me stress, and I am under financial pressure from him."
Mr. A filed a complaint against the groomer for animal abuse, and the hospital acknowledged negligence, provided support for the surgery costs, and reportedly dismissed the groomer involved.
Netizens who learned about the story expressed various reactions, such as "I worry if other dogs were thrown like that too," "Abusing animals due to personal stress," "Why treat someone else's dog like that?" and "They should be severely punished."
Meanwhile, under the Animal Protection Act, if someone is sentenced to imprisonment or higher for animal abuse, they are prohibited from obtaining permits or registrations related to pet businesses for up to five years. However, there is no employment restriction clause, leading to calls for legal system improvements.
