On the 2nd, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, signed an agreement between the district office, medical institutions, and disability organizations to establish and operate disability-friendly hospitals.
This is to create 'disability-friendly hospitals' equipped with convenience facilities that various types of disabled people can comfortably use and staffed by medical personnel with a high awareness of disabilities. The successful case of a disability-friendly beauty salon will be applied to medical services that require disability convenience facilities.
To this end, the district signed a business agreement with local hospitals ▲ Hamkke Georeum Medical Welfare Social Cooperative ▲ Mizzi Plaza Obstetrics and Gynecology, and disability organizations ▲ Nowon-gu Disabled Persons' General Association ▲ Seoul Disabled Parents' Solidarity Nowon Branch.
Through the agreement, they plan to jointly promote various projects to minimize the inconveniences disabled people experience when using medical institutions and to improve the health of disabled individuals. In particular, the two medical institutions participating in the agreement promised to expand facilities for the convenience of disabled patients and strengthen their roles as disability-friendly hospitals.
Additionally, the participating organizations plan to actively cooperate in discovering new projects for the health promotion of disabled people, promoting disability-friendly hospitals, and expanding the participation of medical institutions.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Today’s agreement is an important first step toward improving the medical environment for disabled people and enabling them to access medical services more easily. We will do our best to create a Nowon where all residents enjoy a healthy life without discrimination.”
