Seocho District Council Begins Full-Scale Second Half Legislative Activities

The second half of the 9th Seocho District Council has now been underway for two months.

Chairman Go Seon-jae emphasized in his inaugural speech that “As the residents’ expectations for the council have risen, it is a time to actively respond to the residents’ hopes and demands more than ever before.”

Reflecting this, the council members have been meeting local residents in their respective positions, listening to their complaints, and quietly working to resolve them. In addition, they are actively preparing and reviewing legislation in various fields closely related to residents’ daily lives.

Having completed this warm-up, the council will officially begin its second half of the term with the 335th extraordinary session starting on the 3rd.

The council’s gavel will be struck continuously from September through December. First, the extraordinary session held from the 3rd to the 9th has received 33 agenda items awaiting review.

Key agenda items include ▲ Ordinance on the Operation of Seocho District Public Ambassadors in Seoul ▲ Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of the Cultural Content Industry in Seocho District, Seoul ▲ Hearing on the Yangjae AI Future Convergence Innovation Special Zone Plan ▲ Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on the Promotion of Bicycle Use in Seocho District, Seoul, among others.

After holding another extraordinary session in October, the council will hold the 2nd regular session from November to December, lasting about a month. During the regular session, the council will handle schedules such as district administration questions, administrative audits, and deliberation of the 2025 revenue and expenditure budget.

In 2024, the council will continue its image as a research and study body through council member research groups. Notably, this time the research groups will extend their activity period to conduct more in-depth research. Also, the groups will expand from two to three, covering a wider range of topics such as welfare, culture, and advanced industries. On the 2nd, the research groups will hold an operational review committee meeting and commence their commissioned research. Following field visits, workshops, and interim reports, they plan to produce results by December.

In addition to legislative activities, communication with residents will continue. Ahead of the Chuseok holiday in September, the council will take the lead in creating a warm community by delivering relief supplies to social welfare facilities in the district.

Moreover, local students will be invited to the council to hold a ‘Children and Youth Council Classroom,’ providing an opportunity to directly experience the role of local councils. At the end of the year, through the traditionally continued council member volunteer activities, warmth and love for neighbors will be shared with vulnerable groups.
