Wishing Success for the 2024 World Heritage Festival and Goryeong Cultural Heritage Night Tour
The Goryeong-gun Tourism Association in North Gyeongsang Province (President Kim Yonghyeon) will host the '2024 Tourism Academy' lecture, inviting Professor Seo Kyungduk as a guest speaker.
This lecture will highlight the value of the Jisandong Ancient Tombs, which were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site last year, and will focus on establishing Goryeong as a global tourism city. The event will also provide an opportunity to gather a wide range of opinions beyond the roles of local residents.
In particular, ahead of events such as the '2024 World Heritage Festival' and 'Cultural Heritage Night Tour' that utilize Goryeong's unique historical and cultural resources, the importance of proper succession and development of local culture will be emphasized.
Professor Seo Kyungduk drew attention in 2005 by placing an advertisement about Dokdo in The New York Times. He is currently active as a public relations ambassador for Korea, promoting the nation's history and culture to the world, including issues such as the East Sea, Hangeul, and comfort women.
The lecture will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 5th in the auditorium of the Daegaya Museum, and any Goryeong resident can attend on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of 150 participants.
Kim Yonghyeon, President of the Goryeong-gun Tourism Association, stated, "I hope this lecture will serve as an opportunity to widely promote the historical value of Goryeong and enhance the pride of local residents," adding, "Local festivals serve as a hub for residents to interact and communicate, playing a crucial role in strengthening community cohesion and the sense of belonging."
The '2024 World Heritage Festival' (September 23 to October 6, for two weeks) and the '2024 Goryeong Cultural Heritage Night Tour' (October 3 to 5, for three days), both themed around the World Heritage Jisandong Ancient Tombs, are scheduled to be held in the Jisandong Ancient Tombs and Daegaya-eup areas.
