On the 3rd, KOTRA announced that it held the final KSP briefing session on the 2nd (local time) in Asuncion, Paraguay, together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance. KSP is a program that provides customized policy advice to partner countries based on Korea's economic development experience. At this briefing session, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed between the packaging associations of Korea and Paraguay to strengthen cooperation in the food sector between the two countries.

As part of the KSP project, KOTRA has been promoting the "Paraguay Packaging Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Project" from December last year until this month. At the final project briefing, Korea’s packaging industry development process and experience, as well as trends in packaging manufacturing and design technology, were shared. Based on the research results, policy recommendations were made to Paraguay for a food packaging research and development (R&D) roadmap and for strengthening the competitiveness of the packaging industry.

The briefing session also included the signing ceremony of the MOU between the Korea Packaging Organization Federation (KPO) and the Paraguay Packaging Association (APPACK). The agreement covers joint cooperation plans such as serving as a representative channel to activate exports and imports in the packaging sector between the two countries, establishing joint education programs, personnel exchanges, international joint research, and building partnerships between companies.

In particular, KOTRA emphasized the need to establish a representative institution for the packaging industry through this KSP project. It is necessary to establish an institution to enhance Paraguay’s packaging industry capabilities.

A KOTRA official said, "The MOU signed as part of the KSP policy advisory project holds significance beyond policy advice by sharing Korea’s packaging industry development experience and know-how. We expect it to serve as an opportunity to support the overall capacity building of Paraguay’s food manufacturing industry and to expand exchanges between food manufacturing companies of both countries, thereby contributing to national interests."
