Yangsan Police Station, Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, and Gyeongnam Research Institute Participate
Yangsan City, Gyeongnam held a meeting of the Safety Department Working Council for Community Safety Enhancement at the Yangsan Business Center on the 28th of last month, with the departments in charge of crime prevention projects, Yangsan Police Station, the Women-Friendly City Citizens’ Participation Group, and the Gyeongnam Research Institute in attendance.
The Safety Department Working Council is composed of the departments in charge of crime prevention in Yangsan City, Yangsan Police Station, the Women-Friendly City Citizens’ Participation Group, and gender experts. It is a network council that shares the status of related projects and forms networks for the efficient promotion of safety projects to enhance community safety.
At this meeting, participants shared the progress of crime prevention environment improvement projects, including the Women and Youth Division’s Safe Bell Support Project for female youth and single female business owners, the Safe Trail Creation Project, the Information and Statistics Division’s Crime Prevention System Expansion Project, the Road Maintenance Division’s Street Lighting Improvement and New Installation Project, and the Architecture Division’s Safe Village Creation Project near Yangsan Girls’ Middle and High School.
Additionally, the Women-Friendly City Citizens’ Participation Group collected citizens’ opinions on these projects, and discussed with Yangsan Police Station the efficient promotion of various safety projects. The council members also exchanged views on whether the ongoing crime prevention projects are effectively preventing crime and reviewed plans for additional projects next year.
The council members who attended stated, “We will share difficulties encountered during project implementation and the contents of our discussions, and reflect the working council’s suggestions for improvement in future additional project plans to carry out the projects more efficiently.”
Kang Jeongsuk, Head of the Women and Youth Division and Chair of the Safety Department Working Council, said, “It was a meaningful occasion for the public and private sectors to come together in one place to share and listen to various opinions on citizen safety projects,” and added, “We will continue to discover and promote safety projects tailored to local characteristics so that Yangsan City can become a place where women and other vulnerable groups can live with peace of mind.”
