On the morning of the 2nd, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held a resolution rally to attract Icheon Science High School at the Icheon Art Hall Grand Theater.
About 1,000 people attended the event, including Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon, Song Seok-jun, National Assembly member, Park Myung-seo, Chairman of the Icheon City Council, Kim Eun-jung, Superintendent of Icheon Office of Education, Kim Il-jung, Provincial Assembly member, and various social organizations.

At the event, Jo Han-jun, co-chairman of the Icheon Science High School Attraction Committee, stated, "In a survey conducted last month with 3,797 citizens, 95.2% agreed to the establishment of the science high school," adding, "7,816 people participated in the signature campaign to attract the science high school."
The city is emphasizing that it is a semiconductor-centered city where SK Hynix and the Korea Ceramic Technology Institute are located, highlighting its foundation to realize specialized science education linked with industry, academia, and research institutes, and is actively pursuing the attraction of the science high school.
When the plan for the new designation of Gyeonggi-type science high schools is announced, the city plans to cooperate with the Icheon Office of Education to establish a school establishment plan and submit an application to the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
