In September, the '2024 Korea Art Festival' opened on the 1st, transforming Seoul into a city of art.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center, the Korea Art Festival connects various art events held in Seoul, Gwangju, and Busan in an integrated manner, making it the country's representative art festival brand with participation from art museums nationwide.


Throughout September, the Korea Art Festival links major art events including the Gwangju Biennale and Busan Biennale, as well as Seoul Art Week, KIAF Seoul, and Frieze Seoul held in Seoul. Additionally, during the entire month, over 330 exhibition venues nationwide?including art museums, galleries, art fairs, and biennales?offer free admission or discounted entry fees.

The integrated ticket, which offers a 30% discount on admission to the Gwangju and Busan Biennales, also provides entry benefits to 123 major art museums nationwide and allows the purchase of special railway tourism products that combine train tickets with biennale discount coupons.


The specially produced guidebook for the '2024 Korea Art Festival' not only provides detailed information on the festival's main programs but also includes an art map that allows visitors to easily identify over 330 art spaces at a glance. It is printed in both Korean and English for easy use by both domestic and international visitors and is available for direct download from the festival website.


Art tours featuring storytelling and walking tours with exhibition guides will be held 71 times across 16 courses nationwide from the 1st to the 11th, including nine courses in the Seoul area as well as in Busan, Gwangju, Daejeon, and Jeju. This year, courses for the Gwangju and Busan Biennales and English docent tours for foreigners will be offered to provide audiences with an even more special experience.

On the 5th and 6th, the Korea Art Festival will operate a free shuttle bus (25 seats) in conjunction with the Cheongdam Night and KIAF events. The bus will circulate from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. among about 10 major art museums and galleries in the Samseong-dong COEX, Apgujeong, and Cheongdam-dong areas, with English-speaking guides on board.


With KIAF and Frieze Seoul opening on the 4th, Seoul is expected to gather collectors from around the world during the art festival period. In the first week of September, the Korea Art Festival will hold a promotional event called '2024 Dive into Korean Art: Seoul' targeting key figures in the overseas art world, deeply introducing Korea’s emerging and mid-career artists.

Additionally, from the 5th to the 7th at COEX Seoul, Yegyeong and KIAF-Frieze Seoul will co-host the art discourse conference '2024 KIAF Seoul X Yegyeong X Frieze Seoul' to examine current trends in contemporary art and discuss future directions.


Kim Jang-ho, CEO of Yegyeong, the organizer of the Korea Art Festival, said, "As collectors and art fans from around the world continue to arrive in Korea, this year’s Korea Art Festival focuses on enhancing accessibility so that visitors nationwide can enjoy art more easily and enjoyably.
