RNT Technology is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by news that Samsung Electronics is considering acquiring Nokia's telecommunications equipment division.
As of 2:03 PM on the 2nd, RNT Technology is trading at 4,845 KRW, up 3.3% compared to the previous day.
According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics is reportedly reviewing the acquisition of Nokia's telecommunications equipment division to strengthen its wireless network business. The business value of Nokia's telecommunications equipment division is said to be about 10 billion USD (13.4 trillion KRW).
Nokia is the second-largest global telecommunications equipment company following China's Huawei. Currently, Samsung Electronics holds a market share in the 2% range, but acquiring Nokia's division would propel it to the second position globally.
Samsung Electronics is interested in acquiring Nokia's telecommunications equipment division because fast and stable wireless networks are essential for implementing future new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous driving. Samsung is focusing on developing 6th generation (6G) mobile communication technology with a goal of commercialization by 2030.
Meanwhile, RNT Technology is a company that manufactures components for mobile communication base stations through LTCC materials and laminated ceramic processes based on core material technology. RNT Technology's Dongtan and Gangneung plants have been certified as suppliers through audits on production and quality management by global companies such as Samsung Electronics, Ericsson, and Nokia.
