Selected for 'Deep Tech Scale-up Valley Development Project'... Secured 10.5 Billion KRW in National Funding
Expected to Lead Quantum Computing Industry with Attraction of 20 Key Materials, Parts, and Equipment Companies

Daejeon City and the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) announced on the 2nd that they have been selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Deep Tech Scale-up Valley Development Project' and will promote the establishment of the Quantum Computing Quantum Transformation (QX) Scale-up Valley.
This project aims to secure a competitive edge in the transition from the digital economy to the quantum economy era by converting non-quantum technologies used in related fields such as semiconductors, communications, ICT, and optics into technologies and products applicable to quantum computing.
A total of 14.05 billion KRW will be invested in the project from this year until 2027, including 10.5 billion KRW in national funding, 3.15 billion KRW from the city, and 400 million KRW from the private sector.
Centered around KRISS, which possesses the nation's top fundamental technologies in quantum computing, a consortium including the Science and Technology Cooperative Platform Social Cooperative, Daejeon City, Daejeon Technopark, and Bluepoint Partners will provide systematic support from discovering demand companies to the commercialization of products and services and overseas expansion.
The city expects that, with this project, it will be able to attract 20 materials, parts, and equipment companies and create a market worth 200 billion KRW within Daedeok Quantum Valley by 2027.
In addition, by attracting national projects following the establishment of the Quantum Graduate School, testbed, and open quantum fab, the city expects to secure a leading position across all fields of the quantum industry, including talent development, infrastructure, R&D, and industrialization.
Jang Hojong, Deputy Mayor for Economy and Science of Daejeon City, stated, "Connecting excellent fundamental technologies to products and services is crucial for Daejeon to take the lead in the upcoming quantum economy era," adding, "We hope this project will drive the creation of high-quality jobs in the quantum field and the development of the national quantum computing industry."
Lee Hosung, President of KRISS, said, "Quantum computing technology is a game changer that will bring about innovative changes across our society and industry, and is itself a matter of national security," adding, "There are limits to what can be achieved alone, but by cooperating with the local community and companies, we can leap forward as a quantum powerhouse."
