Dong-A University Seokdang Museum Holds Special Exhibition 'Yeon, Sending Hearts on the Wind'

University Museum Promotion Support Project Holds Second Intangible Heritage Exhibition

Seokdang Museum at Dong-A University (Director: Kim Kisoo) is holding a special exhibition titled "Yeon, Sending Hearts on the Wind" until the 29th.

This exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organized by the Korean University Museum Association, and operated by Seokdang Museum at Dong-A University, is the second intangible heritage exhibition of the university museum advancement support project "Everyone, Together, Sharing: Dong-A Curation Powerhouse II."

The theme of this exhibition is "Yi Sunshin and Tactical Signal Kites," featuring works by Bae Musam, a holder of the Busan intangible heritage title for Jiyun-jang (traditional kite craftsman), along with representative artifacts from the Seokdang Museum collection.

The opening ceremony, held on the 27th of last month, was attended by many university members, local residents, and social welfare organizations.

During the opening, a talk concert featuring Jiyun-jang Bae Musam and the third generation of Dong-A Muse (MUSE, a group of prospective curators made up of Dong-A University students) drew attention. Bae Musam directly communicated with the audience by answering their questions, and Dong-A Muse students explained the content they created through their participation in the exhibition planning and operation process.

Following the talk concert, a guided tour of the exhibition and a kite-flying performance at Dong-A University's Bumin Campus square were met with enthusiastic responses. Participants wrote their wishes on kites and flew them, reflecting on the meaning of the exhibition.

Director Kim Kisoo said, "I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who attended the opening ceremony. Through this event, the intangible heritage holder, Dong-A University students, social welfare organizations, and local residents came together to add meaning to the exhibition," and added, "An online event is also currently underway, so we hope for your active participation."

The exhibition is open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, except on Mondays and public holidays. For more details, please refer to the Seokdang Museum website or contact them by phone.
