Pukyong National University, Handong University, Kyungpook National University, and Yonsei University Host the 6th Model Car Autonomous Driving Competition

The Software Convergence Innovation Institute at Pukyong National University (Director: Song Hajoo) co-hosted the '6th 2024 Autonomous Model Car Competition' together with the SW-centered university support teams from Handong Global University (the main organizer), Kyungpook National University, and Yonsei University Mirae Campus.

The competition, held on the 23rd at Newton Hall of Handong Global University, featured 12 teams and 40 participants who advanced to the finals. Each team competed with their autonomous model cars, aiming for the fastest completion time, successful mission execution, and extra matches.

On this day, the 'Comcap' team from Pukyong National University won the silver prize in the main event and took first place in the overtaking race, which was held as a side competition.

Prior to the finals, participants received technical training over the past month in areas such as image processing, control, Robot Operating System (ROS), embedded software, and also participated in online preliminaries.

This year, Pukyong National University was selected as a '2024 SW-centered University' by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, and is now fostering more than 100 AI and software majors and convergence talents annually for up to eight years.
