Deputy Prime Minister Lee Jooho and Kazakhstan Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek Attend as Observers
Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) signed an international exchange agreement on dual degree programs with Kostanay State University, a national university in Kazakhstan, at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul on August 28.
Dong-Eui University is signing an international exchange agreement with Kostanay State University in Kazakhstan through the Ministry of Education.
This signing ceremony followed a bilateral meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Lee Juhyo and Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, as part of the '2024 Global Education and Innovation Summit' hosted by the Ministry of Education, TV Chosun, and the APEC International Exchange and Cooperation Institute.
Dong-Eui University President Han Suhwan attended the meeting between the two countries' ministers, introducing the details of international exchange with Kostanay State University. Deputy Prime Minister Lee Juhyo stated that he had learned well about the achievements of international exchanges between the two universities and that the Ministry of Education would actively support any future needs.
At the signing ceremony, attended by the education ministers of both countries, President Han Suhwan of Dong-Eui University said, "Dong-Eui University has already conducted many exchanges with Kostanay State University, including student exchange programs and the operation of the King Sejong Institute, based on our excellent faculty and educational facilities in engineering fields. Some exchange students have even achieved employment at Kia Motors," he added. "Through the operation of dual degree programs between the two universities, we will support outstanding talent to advance to the Kia Motors plant being established in the Kostanay region, and provide various support so that young people from both countries can thrive on the global stage."
As Kia Motors is building a second plant in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan, Dong-Eui University has been pursuing cooperation with local universities to nurture global talent in the automotive field. In October last year, President Han Suhwan visited Kazakhstan and signed an exchange agreement covering: ▲ establishment of dual degree programs for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral courses ▲ exchange of professors, students, and staff ▲ joint hosting of academic conferences such as symposiums and seminars ▲ joint development of educational and business programs ▲ exchange of information necessary for education and research ▲ internships for graduate students, and more.
