Tmax Group announced on the 2nd that it has appointed Kim Young-tae, former CEO of Korail Distribution, as the President of Tmax A&C. Tmax A&C is responsible for the advancement and market expansion strategy of the super app platform 'Gaia' (GAIA) introduced by Tmax Group.
Newly appointed President Kim Young-tae graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. After completing a master's degree in International Business at the Helsinki School of Economics, he completed doctoral coursework in Economics at Konkuk University. He worked as a journalist at Maeil Business Newspaper and Gyeongin Broadcasting. He founded K-Lab and KoreaInternet.com, developing AI-based search systems and operating online news, attempting to combine news and IT technology. Later, he served as Executive Director in charge of listening innovation at HiteJinro Group, Communication Director at Hanssem, and then joined Coupang as Vice President overseeing Communication and CSR. He also served as the inaugural Director of Public Communication and External Cooperation Secretary at the Presidential Office under the current government, and as CEO of Korail Distribution.
Tmax Group’s recent recruitment of President Kim Young-tae was made as a proactive response to structural changes following the reacquisition of TmaxSoft and to strengthen innovation capabilities. Additionally, Tmax Group plans to continuously advance its technology and promote the connection and expansion of related technologies and markets to expand the global market for the super app Gaia.
