LG Electronics Strengthens High-Efficiency Home Appliance Lineup Targeting Europe

Targeting European Consumers Seeking High-Efficiency Appliances
Boasting Efficiency Higher Than ErP Top Grade
"Developing High-Efficiency Appliances with AI Technology"

LG Electronics is introducing new energy-efficient home appliances targeting the European market.

LG Electronics Strengthens High-Efficiency Home Appliance Lineup Targeting Europe LG Electronics will showcase new high-efficiency home appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers, that exceed Europe's highest energy rating standards for ErP (Energy-related Products) at IFA 2024, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, from the 6th to the 10th (local time). LG Electronics announced on the 2nd that it will showcase high-efficiency new appliances at 'IFA 2024,' Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, held in Berlin, Germany, starting on the 6th. These products have higher energy efficiency than the highest grade standards of Europe's ErP (Energy-related Products). Europe is promoting the 'REPowerEU' policy to achieve carbon neutrality by reducing energy consumption and dependence on Russian fossil fuels by 2030 while expanding renewable energy. In line with this, as greenhouse gas reduction policies and energy supply trends implemented by each country become uncertain, Europe is experiencing a crisis of soaring energy prices.

As a result, European consumers are increasingly demanding high-efficiency appliances that consume less energy and do so reasonably. In response to this change, LG Electronics plans to strengthen its European market strategy with premium products that dramatically improve energy efficiency based on differentiated core component technologies such as 'inverter motors' and 'compressors.'

The new LG drum washing machine introduced this time is about 55% more efficient than Europe's highest energy efficiency grade A. The product's 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) DD (Direct Drive) motor' optimizes operation to prevent laundry from tangling, reducing energy consumption and fabric damage.

The new dryer product is 26% more efficient than the energy efficiency grade A+++, making it the appliance with the lowest energy consumption among products released in the European market. The AI drying mode sets the drying temperature and time according to the type of laundry and humidity, improving drying time and energy efficiency.

The new LG refrigerator also boasts differentiated competitiveness with efficiency approximately 25% better than the highest energy grade A. It also features a low noise level of 29dB, the lowest among LG Electronics' models in the same class. The new dishwasher applies LG Electronics' core component, the inverter DD, improving efficiency by 20% over the highest energy grade A. The LG InstaView AI oven meets the energy efficiency grade A++. The new product incorporates the 'Gourmet AI' technology, previously applied in the Signature Kitchen Suite oven lineup. Gourmet AI uses an internal oven camera to recognize ingredients and then recommends various customized recipes on the display.

At IFA, LG Electronics will also introduce the 'Smart Green Home,' which efficiently manages and saves energy. Visitors can easily control appliances and manage energy through LG Electronics' smart home platform, LG ThinQ. Ryu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics' H&A Business Division, said, "We will actively target the European market by continuously developing high-energy-efficiency appliances led by AI technology."
