Priority Voting for '2025 Resident Participatory Budget' via Seoul EmVoting Website from August 26 to September 4
13 Projects Closely Related to Residents' Lives, Including Education, Green Spaces, and Safety
Enhancing Transparency, Soundness, and Accountability in Financial Management through Resident Participation in the Entire Budget Process
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is conducting the "2025 Resident Participatory Budget Online Voting," which determines the priority of next year’s projects by September 4, to enhance the democracy and transparency of the budget.
The "Resident Participatory Budget System" is a system where residents directly propose projects needed in their area and participate in the entire budget process, including budget formulation, execution, and feedback. The purpose is to ensure the soundness and transparency of district financial management by discovering various projects closely related to residents’ daily lives.
This year, the "Resident Participatory Budget Online Voting" covers a total of 13 projects, with a total scale of 500 million KRW. Earlier, the district received 53 project applications through the "Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Contest" held in May and June, and after review by the project departments and deliberation by the subcommittee, 13 projects were selected as the final voting targets.
The project fields are also closely related to residents’ lives and have high beneficiary impact, including education, health, green spaces, safety, and living environment. The target projects include ▲ 4th Industrial Revolution Science Class ▲ Visiting Dementia Prevention Music Therapy Project ▲ Installation of Ground Traffic Lights ▲ Maintenance of Crosswalk Bollards ▲ Creation of Small Gardens under Street Trees, among others.
Any resident, worker, or student in the district can vote for up to two projects per person through the Seoul M-Voting website.
The priority will be determined based on the voting results, and the final selected projects will be reflected in next year’s budget after budget review by the Yeongdeungpo District Council.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “Since the budget is prepared with the voices of 380,000 Yeongdeungpo residents, we ask for your great interest and participation to ensure transparent budget formulation and operation,” and added, “We will continue to strive to discover projects essential to the region and to reflect residents’ voices in district administration.”
