Yongin City Conducts Fire Safety Inspections at 155 Rural Lodging Facilities

Inspection of Fire Extinguisher and Portable Emergency Light Installation Status

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that it will conduct a fire safety management inspection targeting 155 rural lodging businesses in the area.

The inspection, which will take place until the 13th, is being carried out to prevent similar accidents from recurring following a recent fire at a lodging facility that resulted in multiple casualties, increasing public anxiety.

The inspection will verify whether fire extinguishers and portable emergency lights are installed in every room within the facility, and check for the presence of standalone alarm detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and gas leak detectors in kitchens and boiler rooms.

For facilities with a total floor area of 150㎡ or less, evacuation guidance signs that inform guests how to safely evacuate in case of fire will be checked, while for larger facilities, the installation of emergency exit guidance lights will also be inspected.

If safety management standards are not met, the city will issue on-site improvement orders and conduct follow-up management to ensure appropriate measures are taken. For facilities requiring enhancements, a second inspection will be conducted in October through specialized fire and gas safety inspection companies.

A city official stated, "We will thoroughly check compliance with safety regulations through this inspection to prevent loss of life and property damage caused by fires."
