On the 2nd, occasional rain is expected across various parts of the country, and temperatures are likely to drop slightly in areas where rain falls.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 1st, light raindrops of less than 0.1mm will fall in most regions nationwide between night on the 1st and early morning on the 2nd, especially in northern Gyeonggi and northern Yeongseo in Gangwon Province. From dawn to afternoon, occasional rain will fall in various parts of the central region, with some areas in southern Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and Gangwon Yeongdong experiencing rain continuing until night.
Expected precipitation amounts are around 5mm in Seoul, inland southern Gyeonggi, central and southern Yeongseo in Gangwon, Chungbuk, Daegu, and inland southern Gyeongbuk, and between 5 to 20mm in the West Sea Five Islands, eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.
With the rain, temperatures are expected to be lower than over the weekend, easing the heatwave. Morning low temperatures will range from 19 to 25 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will be between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius, similar to or slightly higher than the average.
However, in the southern regions and Jeju Island, the highest perceived temperature during the day may rise to around 33 degrees Celsius, so the heat may continue.
On the 2nd, strong winds will blow over the West Sea open waters, and from the afternoon of the 2nd to the morning of the 3rd, strong winds will also affect the East Sea open waters, with waves rising to 1.0 to 2.5 meters. Ships engaged in navigation or fishing should exercise caution. Additionally, gusts accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur over the West Sea, so attention to maritime safety accidents is necessary.
