Korean Air Signs SAF Supply Contract for Incheon-Haneda Regular Route
Leads Domestic Economy with First 'International Certification' and 'Regular Supply' of SAF on Commercial Routes

On the 1st, S-OIL announced that it will supply SAF once a week to Korean Air passenger flights operating regularly between Incheon Airport and Tokyo Haneda Airport.
This marks the first time in history that domestically produced SAF is being supplied to commercial passenger flights on regular routes departing from a domestic airport.
On May 30th, S-OIL, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Korean Air, held a ceremony at Incheon International Airport to celebrate the first commercial operation of domestically produced SAF. The event was attended by Minister Ahn Dukgeun of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Minister Park Sangwoo of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Chairman Kim Sanghyup of the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee, commemorating the meaningful occasion of refueling a regular international route national carrier with SAF produced by a domestic refiner for the first time.
The government announced a strategy to expand the use of SAF to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector and promote the development of the eco-friendly energy industry, expressing its commitment to active support.
At the event, S-OIL CEO Anwar Al Hejazi stated, "S-OIL is actively responding to global decarbonization trends and is transforming itself into a clean energy supplier contributing to the circular economy." He continued, "By taking on the significant role of supplying SAF to international passenger flights for the first time in Korea, we will prioritize stable product supply and do our utmost to contribute to the expansion of the next-generation eco-friendly SAF ecosystem." He added, "S-OIL is actively considering the construction of dedicated SAF production facilities to stably expand supply in response to increasing demand both domestically and overseas. We will also strive to supply other eco-friendly energy and circular economy products."
S-OIL is leading the market among domestic refiners by taking the initiative in the entire process of SAF production, international certification, and supply.
In January this year, S-OIL became the first in Korea to pilot the co-processing of bio-based feedstocks (such as used cooking oil and palm residue oil) at its refining facilities. In April, it obtained the international certification for sustainable aviation fuel (ISCC CORSIA) for the first time in Korea, officially launching the production of carbon-reducing products.
