Gyeongbuk Technopark and Gyeongbuk Hybrid Parts Research Institute to Merge... "Synergy Effect from Functional Integration"

Gyeongbuk Technopark, a Gyeongbuk provincial government-funded institution, and Gyeongbuk Hybrid Components Research Institute will officially launch as the integrated corporation Gyeongbuk Technopark starting from the 2nd.

This integration is the result of the 'New Government Local Public Institution Innovation Guidelines' and the '8th Civilian Gyeongbuk Provincial Public Institution Structural Reform', aiming to minimize overlapping tasks between institutions and establish a single control tower per sector.

Following the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization, and Gyeongbuk Happiness Foundation, the integrated corporation Gyeongbuk Technopark has now been launched as the final step.

After the Gyeongbuk Technopark board approved the integration plan last December and the Hybrid Components Research Institute held its dissolution board meeting in March this year, a task force composed of both institutions' labor unions was operated to discuss and coordinate key issues. The Ministry of Industry's dissolution approval was also completed on the 28th of last month.

Additionally, to prevent confusion during the integration process, all assets, rights, and obligations have been comprehensively succeeded by Gyeongbuk Technopark.

In the initial phase of integration, except for overlapping personnel in management support, the business departments will maintain their current organizational structure and operate as the 'Hybrid Components Research Center' within the integrated Gyeongbuk Technopark, ensuring that ongoing projects proceed without disruption.

In the future, after an organizational diagnosis by a specialized institution, the organization will be completely restructured based on the demands of future industries.

The integrated Gyeongbuk Technopark aims to serve as the control tower for industrial sectors in the Gyeongbuk region, strengthening research and development, business support, and hub functions to create local jobs and vitalize the regional economy.

By establishing organizational linkages within R&D to respond to rapid technological evolution in fields such as future mobility materials, components, processing industries, secondary battery industries, and bio-convergence industries, and by developing mid- to long-term roadmaps, the foundation will build an R&D innovation base and promote technological innovation for local companies.

Gyeongbuk Province expects synergy effects from the specialization and convergence of the two institutions' functions by sector, strengthening the regional industrial ecosystem through policy development and planning for future new industries, and attracting large-scale national projects.

Going forward, Gyeongbuk Province will actively support the integrated Gyeongbuk Technopark so that it can re-emerge as a specialized institution serving as a hub for regional industrial development.

Lee Cheolwoo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "We must strive to provide better public services to residents through the integration of public institutions," and added, "In particular, we will do our best to systematically foster specialized industries and future strategic industries with high growth potential in the province centered on the integrated Gyeongbuk Technopark, and to maximize the synergy effect of functional convergence."
