The man is 40-year-old Daisuke Hori from Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, who has slept only 30 minutes daily for 12 years and claims that this has improved his work efficiency. He also said that thanks to training his brain and body to function normally with minimal sleep, he never feels tired. He shared his secret, saying, "Reducing sleep time has the same effect as extending lifespan," and "Exercising or drinking coffee one hour before meals can prevent drowsiness."

He founded the "Short Sleep Training Association" in 2016 and has taught more than 2,100 people how to sleep briefly. Among them, one person reportedly reduced their sleep time from 8 hours to 90 minutes after training and has maintained this for four years. They also claimed to maintain good skin and mental health. Hori said, "People who need sustained concentration at work gain more benefits from high-quality sleep than from long sleep."

Japan's Yomiuri TV conducted a reality show observing him intensively for three days, during which Hori actually slept only 26 minutes and woke up full of energy.

However, many experts point out that at least 7 hours of sleep per day should be secured. Recently, CNN reported, "To promote heart health, it is recommended to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night and maintain a consistent sleep pattern," adding, "It is best to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day whenever possible."
