87 Prospective Social Workers Receive 87 Million Won
Daesun Public Interest Foundation, established by BN Group Daesun Distilling, a local company in Busan, held the ‘18th Daesun Scholarship Award Ceremony’ at 2 p.m. on the 30th at the Daesun Distilling Gijang Plant.
The event was attended by about 100 people, including Daesun scholarship recipients, professors from various universities, Cho Sungje, Chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation, and Cha Jaeyoung, Executive Director of Daesun Distilling.
The ‘Daesun Scholarship,’ which the Daesun Public Interest Foundation has been awarding annually since 2007, is a program that selects students majoring in social welfare who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and exemplary conduct, providing them with support so they can focus on their studies.
This year, 87 social welfare majors from 29 universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions were selected to receive a total of 87 million KRW in scholarships. As of this year, a total of 2,072 students have received 1,362,900,000 KRW in Daesun scholarships.
Cho Sungje, Chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation, said, “I am deeply moved and proud to see the passion of the scholarship recipients who will become future social workers. We will continue to support the journey of aspiring social workers toward their dreams.”
The Daesun Public Interest Foundation is the first private public interest foundation in Busan, established in 2005 with a full investment of 4 billion KRW by Daesun Distilling, a leading local company in Busan celebrating its 94th anniversary this year, as part of its ESG management. Despite challenging circumstances such as fluctuations in domestic and international economic indicators, the foundation has been actively engaged in various social contribution activities, including scholarship programs for social welfare majors, the Daesun Social Worker Award, and providing free meals to underprivileged groups in the local community.
