The National Police Agency announced on the 1st that it will deploy the Criminal Mobile Unit and Mobile Patrol Unit to prevent the spread of narcotics in entertainment districts such as clubs.
This special measure will continue until the end of this year, with plans to carry out intensive prevention and crackdown activities. The Narcotics Investigation Unit will focus on investigating narcotics distribution activities to completely block supply, while the International Crime Investigation Division will concentrate its investigative efforts on cracking down on drug crimes in entertainment districts densely populated by foreigners.
The Criminal Mobile Unit will conduct field-centered crackdown activities through active inquiries and intelligence gathering. The Mobile Patrol Unit will activate checkpoints and searches through base patrols around entertainment districts such as clubs, and collaborate with local police and method patrol units to patrol alleys that could be used as throwing sites, thereby carrying out detailed prevention activities.
A National Police Agency official stated, “Drug-related crimes occurring inside clubs and entertainment establishments rely heavily on citizen reports,” adding, “We guarantee the identity of informants and plan to provide rewards, so we ask for your keen interest and reports.”
