The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) held the opening ceremony of the '1st Dongsam Innovation District Marine Cluster Festival' on August 30 at the National Maritime Museum located in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kang Dohyung, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Park Hyungjun, Mayor of Busan, Lee Heeseung, President of KIOST, and heads of organizations within the marine cluster. Together, they held a declaration ceremony wishing for a new leap forward for the Dongsam Innovation District Marine Cluster. As a side event, a talk concert featuring Captain Kim Seungjin and explorer Choi Jongyeol was held.
On the 31st, various cultural events such as a special lecture by science communicator Gwedo, a seafood magic show, and a raffle will be held at the National Maritime Museum, along with open events hosted by each organization.
Lee Heeseung, President of KIOST, said, "Through this event, we hope to introduce the 'Dongsam Innovation District Marine Cluster Organizations' to the public, and furthermore, for the region and citizens to unite in making Busan a global maritime capital, strengthening our shared goals and cooperation through this meaningful event."
