Let's Travel to Ulleungdo at Lightning Speed... Korail and Daezer Ferry Launch 'Ultra High-Speed Rail Ship'

Departing Seoul Station at 6:43 a.m., Arriving in Ulleung at 1:00 p.m.

A travel package combining KTX trains and the ultra-high-speed passenger ferry between Pohang and Ulleung in North Gyeongsang Province has been launched, stirring up the holiday market ahead of Chuseok and other extended breaks.

Korail will start selling the "Ulleungdo KTX Ultra-High-Speed Railship" package from September 9, which connects KTX trains with the ultra-high-speed ferry running between Pohang and Ulleungdo.

According to Korea Railroad Corporation (hereafter Korail) and other sources on the 30th, starting from the 9th of next month, the "Ulleungdo Ultra High-Speed Railship" package, which connects the KTX and the Pohang-Ulleung ultra-high-speed passenger ferry Eldorado (3,158 tons, 970 passengers), will be available for purchase.

The "Eldorado Express" is currently the fastest catamaran in the world, covering the 217 km distance between Pohang Passenger Ferry Terminal and Dodong Port in Ulleung at a maximum speed of 51 knots (95 km/h), completing the journey in about 2 hours and 50 minutes.

With this package, travelers can depart from Seoul Station at 6:43 a.m. on the KTX, arrive at Pohang Station, take a free shuttle bus to the passenger ferry terminal, board the Eldorado Express departing at 10:10 a.m., and arrive in Ulleungdo by 1:00 p.m.

The one-way fare, departing from Seoul Station, is discounted by 30% from the regular price of 142,600 won to 99,800 won. The package can be purchased from the 9th via the Let’s Korail website and the mobile app "Korail Talk," with the first departure scheduled for the 11th.

Purchasing the package also provides additional partnership discounts on local rental cars, diving experiences, accommodations, souvenirs, and more in Ulleungdo.
