Production and Distribution of 'Digital Sexual Violence OUT' Video
Full Efforts to Eradicate Digital Sex Crimes and Raise Awareness
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has produced and distributed educational content titled "Digital Sexual Violence OUT" to address the recent surge in deepfake-related sexual crimes. This content covers topics such as the prevention of digital sexual violence and methods for responding to victimization.
This content aims to raise students' awareness of the eradication of illegal filming and digital sexual crimes, to help create a safer society, and to promote gender equality consciousness in daily life.
The Office of Education included in the video content topics such as "illegal filming without consent," types of digital sexual violence such as non-consensual distribution and threats of distribution, and "guidelines for reporting and responding to incidents."
The Office has made this video available on its official YouTube channel and the gender equality education portal "Gonggam," so that not only students but anyone can view it. In particular, the content was produced in both a general and a barrier-free version to enhance accessibility.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "With the recent surge in deepfake sexual crimes using artificial intelligence technology among youth, there is a growing need for preventive education and support for victims. Our office will do its utmost to eradicate digital sexual crimes in schools by strengthening not only digital sexual violence prevention materials, but also various student education programs, daily guidance, and support for victim protection and recovery."
The Busan Office of Education is currently running programs such as: ▲ Education on eradicating and preventing violence and delinquency with the superintendent, lawyers, and police officers ▲ On-site digital sexual violence prevention education at schools ▲ Prevention education for students on digital sexual crimes (including deepfakes).
Additionally, through various policies such as ▲ Operating a digital sexual violence prevention idea contest for awareness improvement and publicity ▲ Distributing promotional stickers to prevent illegal filming, the office is striving to prevent digital sexual violence.
