Jipyeong Brewery stated that on the previous day, it signed an MOU with Yangpyeong County at the Yangpyeong County Office to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the operation of Jipyeong Brewery in 2025, and to preserve the cultural value of the nationally registered cultural heritage site Jipyeong Brewery, which was used as the command post of the United Nations Command French Battalion during the Korean War, as well as to establish plans for utilizing and operating the cultural heritage.

Jipyeong Brewery is a place that holds the history of the Battle of Jipyeong-ri, which was a turning point in the Korean War, where the United Nations Command French Battalion used it as a command post during the Korean War and, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Monclar, repelled the offensive of the Chinese Communist forces. In July, the 209th class of French Saint-Cyr Army cadets visited Jipyeong-ri and held a memorial ceremony together with Yangpyeong County.

Under this agreement, Jipyeong Brewery plans to carry out internal facility repairs and remodeling for the experience and utilization of Jipyeong Brewery and implement programs for regular open operation. In addition, it will cooperate with national and local governments' national heritage policies, such as registering Jipyeong Brewery as a national veterans administration memorial facility, and promote the 100-year tradition of Jipyeong Makgeolli while revitalizing historical and cultural tourism through educational programs on the Korean War sites.

As part of this agreement, Yangpyeong County will provide administrative support, including personnel support such as cultural tourism interpreters for the operation of Jipyeong Brewery and resolving civil complaints such as parking. Yangpyeong County will be responsible for external repairs and surrounding maintenance of the cultural heritage site.

A representative of Jipyeong Brewery said, “Based on this agreement, ‘Jipyeong Brewery’ will be reborn as a cultural tourist destination with historical value beyond just a brewery,” and added, “Through successful cooperation between Jipyeong Brewery and Yangpyeong County, we will contribute to revitalizing local tourism and raising awareness of Makgeolli.”
